Bottle Throwing

Here I'm throwing 4 pounds of English porcelain into a bottle. While collaring, the rim repeatedly can get uneven, so I cut it off with a wire tool and continue to throw.

50 Pound Bowl

My friend Karna and I worked together to center, open and throw 50 pounds of clay on a potter's wheel. We added the clay in segments from heaviest to lightest: 20 lbs, 15 lbs, 10 lbs, 5 lbs. Centering took 1 hour and throwing took 45 minutes.

Mocha Diffusion

The contemporary decorating style of mocha diffusion has a lot to do with chemistry. First, watering slip is poured over a section of a piece. Then, a suspension of mason stain or metal oxide in vinegar is dropped onto the wet slip. The acidity of the vinegar allows for the pigment to web outwards.
